I Used to Love Elon Musk, Now I’m Embarrassed By It
Just like many aspiring tech entrepreneurs, I used to be a die-hard fan of Elon Musk. I remember reading his biography book in 2017 and I always thought he was the next Steve Jobs — a visionary entrepreneur who was changing the world for the better.
His plans for Mars, his work on Tesla and self-driving cars, and his commitment to global sustainability all inspired me. I thought he was someone who was truly making a difference in the world.
Well, he is and nothing can change that.
But the Elon Musk I knew is long gone. In recent years, he has become increasingly erratic and unpredictable, especially since he acquired Twitter, which is now rebranded to just ‘X’.
Maybe he’s just under a lot of pressure. Maybe he’s lost his way. But whatever the reason, I’m no longer the fan I once was.
Ever since he acquired Twitter in October 2022, his whole persona, decision-making, and behavior, have been different. One could argue that he has been childlike, erratic, and confusing.
Remember when he threatened to walk away from the Twitter deal unless the company provides him with more information about its bot accounts? These actions have led to speculation that Musk is trying to back out of the deal or that he’s not serious about running…
